ROCKWELL'S 5th ANNUAL KICKIN' & CHICKEN FUN WEEKEND will be Friday, Aug. 8 thru Sunday, Aug. 10, 2008

Street Dance - July 5, 2008 - Main Street - Boogie & the Yo-Yo's
Fireworks Display - July 3, 2008 - Linn Grove Park (Raindate: July 4th)
Rockwell, Iowa is a small rural community in the southern part of Cerro Gordo County in Northern Iowa. It is located eleven miles south of Mason City, Iowa, at the intersection of Highway 65 and County Road B60. Rockwell is the home of Linn Grove Park and Recreation Facilities, Linn Grove Swimming Pool, and Linn Grove Country Club and Golf Course. The town has a population of around 1000 friendly people. The community sponsors a Chicken Barbecue on the second or third Sunday of August to raise money for the swimming pool. The Fourth of July fireworks display brings many people into the community, as well.
Rockwell Veterans Memorial:
The Rockwell Veterans Memorial was dedicated on Memorial Day, May 31, 2004. There are over 500 names engraved on this memorial that have served in the United States Armed Forces. Summer 2008 Events:
This year Rockwell will hold a Street Dance on Saturday, July 5th. Boogie and the YoYo's will perform on Main Street. A beer garden will open at 6:30 pm. This event is sponsored by the Legion Club, the Rockwell Chamber of Commerce, and Premium Beverages. The Fireworks display will be on Thursday, July 3rd in Linn Grove Park at sunset. The raindate is Friday, July 4th.

The 42nd Annual Chicken Barbecue will be held on August 10th. The meal includes chicken, potato salad, sweetcorn, rolls, and drinks. This year the Chamber of Commerce will also be sponsoring the 5th Annual Kicken' & Chicken Fun Weekend starting on Friday, August 8th, including the Bulls & Barrels Rodeo performance on Friday with a band following, a dance by Boogie and the Yo-Yo's on Saturday with three other bands playing prior to Boogie starting at 5:00 pm, a Motorcycle & Classic Car Fun Run, Golf Tournament, Softball Tournaments, a Motorcycle Show, a Classic Car Show, and many more events.
