ATTENTION: The new clinic will be opening its doors on November 30th. It will be called Westfork Family Medicine with Dr. Joshua Baker, D.O. and Dr. Charity Baker, D.O. taking over the clinic duties. For more information and hours call 641-372-0315. The clinic is located in the old clinic building next to the Rockwell Nursing Home.

Rockwell, Iowa is a small rural community in the southern part of Cerro Gordo County in Northern Iowa. It is located eleven miles south of Mason City, Iowa, at the intersection of Highway 65 and County Road B60. Rockwell is the home of Linn Grove Park and Recreation Facilities, Linn Grove Swimming Pool, and Linn Grove Country Club and Golf Course. The town has a population of around 1000 friendly people. The community sponsors a Chicken Barbecue on the second or third Sunday of August to raise money for the swimming pool. The Fourth of July fireworks display brings many people into the community, as well.The summer of 2009 will see many activities in Rockwell to help raise money for the new aquatic center.
Rockwell Veterans Memorial:
The Rockwell Veterans Memorial was dedicated on Memorial Day, May 31, 2004. There are over 500 names engraved on this memorial that have served in the United States Armed Forces. Summer 2009 Events:
This year Rockwell held a Street Dance on Friday, June 26th. Chasin Mason and Boogie and the YoYo's performed on Main Street. A beer garden opened at 6:00 pm with bands starting at 7:00 pm. This event was sponsored by the Legion Club, the Rockwell Chamber of Commerce, and Premium Beverages. The Fireworks display was held on Friday, July 3rd in Linn Grove Park at sunset.

On Saturday, July 11th the Rockwell Lions Club sponsored an NTPA National Truck & Tractor Pull that began at 6 pm at the Chamber Acres in Rockwell. The corporate sponsors for this event were Tom Hovland Enterprises, Inc - NAPA Auto Parts, Five Star Coop, and Lyons Toyota. The event included a 2-Wheel Drive Truck Class, a 4-Wheel Drive Truck Class, a Super-farm Tractor Class, and an Open Class (Pull what you drive). Tickets for this event were $15. The event was very well attended and will probably be repeated in 2010. Prior to the Truck & Tractor Pull, at 11 am there was an ATV Pull.

The 43rd Annual Chicken Barbecue was held on August 9th. The meal included chicken, potato salad, sweetcorn, rolls, and drinks. This year the Chamber of Commerce also sponsored the 6th Annual Kicken' & Chicken Fun Weekend that started on Friday, August 7th, with a Bull Riding Rodeo performance by 8 Second Rodeo and the band, Chasin Mason, following. A dance by Boogie and the Yo-Yo's was held on Saturday with two other bands playing prior to Boogie starting at 6:30 pm. Saturday's events also included a Motorcycle & Classic Car Fun Run and Softball Tournaments. On Sunday there was a 5K Run (more information), a Classic Car Show, and more softball tournaments in addition to the chicken dinner.

On August 15th, the Rockwell Lions Club hosted their annual Farm Machinery Consignment Auction at the Chamber Acres. They held a raffle for a 1957 John Deere 520 Tractor that day. Tickets were available from any Lions member and were $20 each or 6 for $100. For more information go to www.rockwellialions.com.
