Rockwell, Iowa is a small rural community in the southern part of Cerro Gordo County in Northern Iowa. It is located eleven miles south of Mason City, Iowa, at the intersection of Highway 65 and County Road B60. Rockwell is the home of Linn Grove Park and Recreation Facilities, Linn Grove Swimming Pool, and Linn Grove Country Club and Golf Course. The town has a population of around 1000 friendly people. The community sponsors a Chicken Barbecue on the second or third Sunday of August to raise money for the swimming pool. The Fourth of July fireworks display brings many people into the community, as well. The summer of 2010 will see many activities in Rockwell to help raise money for the new aquatic center, which in opening on May 29.
Rockwell Veterans Memorial:
The Rockwell Veterans Memorial was dedicated on Memorial Day, May 31, 2004. There are over 500 names engraved on this memorial that have served in the United States Armed Forces. Summer 2011 Events:

This year Rockwell will hold a Street Dance on Saturday, July 2nd. Boogie and the YoYo's will perform on Main Street. This event is sponsored by the Legion Club, the Rockwell Chamber of Commerce, and Premium Beverages. The Fireworks display will be held on Sunday, July 3rd in Linn Grove Park at sunset.

On Friday and Saturday, July 8th and 9th, the Rockwell Lions Club will hold another NTPA National Truck & Tractor Pull at the Chamber Acres in Rockwell. The major sponsors for this event are Lyons Toyota, Five Star Coop, Corporate Farmer, John Ries Excavating, INC., Window World, and First Citizens Bank. On Saturday morning the Sacred Heart Ladies Guild will sponsor Kris Cakes breakfast form 8-11 at the Chamber Acres. There will also be a free Kids Peddlepull hosted by the GH-RRR 4H Club and the National Guard will supply a rock climbing wall for the kids.

The 45th Annual Chicken Barbecue will be held on August 14th at Zeidler Park from 11 am until 3 pm. The meal includes chicken, potato salad, sweetcorn, rolls, and drinks. The Chamber of Commerce is also sponsoring the 8th Annual Kicken' & Chicken Fun Weekend which starts on Friday, August 12th, with a Bull Riding Rodeo performance by 8 Second Rodeo and a band following. A dance featuring Boogie and the Yo-Yo's will be held on Saturday starting at 7 pm. All of these events are at the Chamber Acres. Saturday's events also include a Motorcycle & Classic Car Fun Run at the Legion and Softball Tournaments at Ziedler Park. On Sunday there is a 5K Run (more information), a Classic Car Show, and more softball tournaments in addition to the chicken dinner all at Ziedler Park. The Zeidler Historical House at the corner of Maple Street and 2nd Street North will have an Open House from 1-4 pm on both Saturday and Sunday. This is free to the public.

On August 20th, the Rockwell Lions Club will host their annual Farm Machinery Consignment Auction at the Chamber Acres. They will hold a raffle for a 2011 John Deere 825 Gator that day. For more information go to www.rockwellialions.com.
